Chadster's Tips on "Getting Your Pc Back Up To Speed."
Ok lets start with the basics. First of all if your PC is not up to speed you may need to defragment your hard drive.
When you install, uninstall, and delete things from your hard drive, it becomes fragmented. Files and folder scattered
around with small bits and pieces of free space in-between. One Big Mess. Any defrag program will repair this,and put your
files and folders back together, and take up all the slack. Windows comes with a standard defrag program, but I strongly recommend
using "Norton Utilities".
Ok, now to defrag your hard drive using windows defrag program here's what you need to do.
Click on the start button, go to "Programs", then "Accessories", down to "System Tools", and finally click on "Disk Defragmenter".
A box will then open asking which drive you would like to defragment. Click on setting, if they are not already checked place a check mark next to
"Rearrange program files so my programs start faster" and "Check the drive for errors" Also on the bottom portion be sure that,
"Every time I defragment my hard drive" is selected. Click ok. You will then be back to the box that's asking, "Which drive you would like to defragment?".
If you have a single hard drive you would select "C:"
If you have two hard drives then "C:" would most likely be your master and "D:" should be your slave. If this is the case you will need run the disk defragmenter twice.
